M3U Tools: Validator, Converter and Editor — M3UPlaylist
Tools

Three M3U tools, three different jobs

Validation, conversion and editing are separate problems, and a tool that claims to do all three badly usually does none of them well. Each of these pages does one thing, runs in your browser and exports a file you can keep.

Comparison

Which one you want depends on the fault

A playlist that will not open, opens empty, or shows the wrong channel names has a structural fault, and the validator is the fastest way to find it: it reports the line number and the reason. A playlist that plays correctly but whose data you need elsewhere is a conversion problem — CSV for a spreadsheet, JSON for a script. A playlist that plays but is unpleasant to use is an editing problem: names that mean nothing, groups that are not groups, the same stream listed three times under different labels.

Tool Input Output Use it when
M3U Validator M3U text or file A score, issues with line numbers, entry statistics The file will not load, or you want to know why before you send it to someone
M3U Converter M3U or JSON CSV, JSON or a clean M3U You need the channel list in a spreadsheet, a script or another tool
M3U Editor M3U text or file Edited M3U download Names and groups are wrong, or the list is full of duplicate streams
Shared behaviour

What all three have in common

All three parse the file the same way, using one implementation, so a file the validator accepts is a file the editor can load and the converter can export. That matters more than it sounds: tools built separately disagree about edge cases — an entry with no duration, a URL with a space in it, a playlist that starts with a byte-order mark — and you end up fixing a file for one tool and breaking it for another.

All three also work offline once the page has loaded, because there is no server round-trip to wait for. And all three refuse to do the one thing many people expect: check whether the streams actually play. That would mean requesting third-party media servers from your browser, and it is a different product with different consequences.
